OUR NEW HOME

Houston Hair was born in 2005 when Simon Houston set up his first salon in Mill Street, Ballymena and what a journey it’s been. Two years later, he moved to a bigger and more modern premises in Galgorm, where he spent the next 15 years building a top rate reputation and a client base to match.

After years of renting premises, the dream was always to purchase the perfect property that would become Houston Hair’s ‘forever home’. When a 1920s, red brick terrace townhouse centrally located on a tree-lined street came on the market, Simon knew it was THE perfect location for Houston Hair.

The house had oodles of character in its pre-loved past but there clearly was a lot of work to do to bring it back to life. While the prospect of major renovations may have put some off, for Simon it was completely the opposite. The project set his natural creativity alight and it was a case of ‘challenge accepted’ for Simon and his team. After six months of hard work, on October 28, 2022, the mission of retaining character and original features while adding lots of colour and personality was well and truly accomplished when the brand new Houston Hair opened its doors for the first time.

The aim was to give the property a new lease of life.. and what a life that has turned out to be. The property now boasts four bespoke salon spaces with little surprise details everywhere that make it like nowhere else you’ve ever been. From song lyrics to amazing art on the walls, there are selfie and insta-worthy story backdrops everywhere. Even the backyard has been transformed into a relaxing yet contemporary space to pause, chill and take in some air.
